I took the time recently to begin annual maintenance on my Synergy E5 Super Stretch, E5SS for short.
I built and completed the maiden flight in June of 2015. Since then the E5SS has completed over 34 hours of flight. http://rcheli.club/pilots/View?PilotId=78e3b8dc-adb3-4552-a625-cddc4a7a9b6f
During this time all that has been needed is bearings and dampers. Usually when I do this type of maintenance I clean the threadlocker from the bolts. In the past I've used a lighter to burn the threadlocker off and a rag and toothbrush to clean the threads.
After listening to the guys answer a listener question on the RCHeliNation podcast I decided to find a metric die set to use in cleaning the threadlocker from the bolts.
Finding a die set at first seemed complicated. Especially since I needed a M3 die. After searching the web it became clear Home Depot has a small selection of taps and dies.
After a quick trip to Home Depot I was back at it.
I was happy to find using a die to clean the threads is quicker and cleaner than my previous method of using a lighter.
Now on to switching out my FBL controller for the season.

Welcome
Welcome to my new blog. Through my hobbies and other things I run into many technical details. Some of these things are well known and others are not. Either way I wanted a place I could share them with others, and help myself remember some things I've learned and forgotten.
